The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) will hold a Parade of Lights that will feature floats mounted on a motorized vehicle on January 27, 2018 from 7pm until midnight.
The parade will start at Infante Street beside University of the Philippines-Visayas going to Benigno Aquino Avenue and on to Megaworld where all floats must be parked along the main road and must remain in the area until midnight.
The contest is open to all business corporations and companies, local government units including barangays, tertiary schools, civic clubs and associations, civil society organizations, and fraternities and sororities.
The deadline for registration is on January 13, 2018, 2pm at Lee Chuan Dinagyang Lounge at the back of Freedom Grandstand.
The minimum size of small floats should be five-feet in height, five-feet in width and 12-feet in length while for the maximum size should be eight-feet in height, eight-feet in width, and 15-feet in length.
For the big floats, the minimum size should have 10-feet in height, 10-feet width, and 20-feet length while the maximum size should be 12-feet in height, 12-feet in width, and 40-feet in length.
The float should be elaborately decorated with paper, wood, flowers, or a variety of other indigenous materials and lights into three-dimensional figures depicting a scene. There should be no gas-fueled lamps or similar lanterns and fireworks.
The float must feature a tableau or a group of people, motionless figures or animated designs which depict the corporate vision, mission or advocacy in line with the theme Dinagyang@50: Timeless Tradition, Culture and Devotion.
The participating group’s name and logo together with the logo of 50th Dinagyang Festival should be prominently displayed.
The company mascot may either lead the parade or on-board the float. Gold is the dominant color to highlight Dinagyang’s Golden Anniversary.
Drum and bugle corps, military or fatigue uniforms, motorcycles except for the parade marshals, horses, animals, indecent attires and similar images, and political advertisements or campaign materials are prohibited.
The floats will be judged based on splendor or grandiosity (20%), uniqueness and originality (20%), lighting effects (20%), workmanship and creativity (20%), use of indigenous materials (10%), and execution of concept (10%).
Judges will be stationed along Aquino Avenue and Iloilo Convention Center.
The Best Float, first and second runners-up will receive cash prizes and trophies which will be given during the awarding ceremonies on January 28, 2018. (By Merianne Grace J. EreƱeta/ Iloilo City PIO)
